A Well-Fed World Sustainable Keys Global Grants

A Well-Fed World advocates for plant-based solutions to international food security to create a more sustainable, climate-friendly future. They work with nonprofits and non-governmental agencies in the U.S. and around the world to create top-down change.

Their Sustainable Keys Global Grants focus on bottom-up, grassroots movements for plant-based food and farming. Applications are accepted on a continual basis and awarded quarterly. Typical awards are $500 for individuals and $1,000 for organizations.

Eligibility

This grant is open to both individuals and organizations. A 501(c)3 status is not required.

Grant Priorities

  • Plant-based feeding programs in low-income communities in the U.S. and other countries
  • Plant-based food as outreach in communities of all income levels to increase plant-based purchasing habits
  • Plant-based farming including home and community gardens, education, and training
  • Social justice outreach projects that connect food justice, the environment, health, safety, and youth
  • Online and print advocacy that distributes information through videos, news, and social networking
  • Event advocacy such as organizing, sponsoring, attending, or presenting at events

NBA Foundation Grant

The NBA Foundation‘s Grant Program supports projects in the U.S. and Canada that foster employment and career advancement for Black youth.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Submissions will be reviewed within 12-14 weeks after being received.

Eligibility

This grant is open to organizations that are:

  • Registered as a 501(c)3 nonprofit in the United States or a T3010 in Canada
  • Promoting school to career opportunities for Black youth aged 12-24
  • Serving a minimum of 25 students

Organizations in NBA Markets will be given priority.

Funding Limitations

The NBA Foundation does not specify how funds can spent. However, they generally do not fund:

  • Afterschool or Pre-K programs
  • Hospitals
  • Individuals
  • Scholarships
  • Political activities
  • Programs primarily serving adults 25 and older

Explorers Club Impact Grant

The Explorers Club has been supporting scientific expeditions since 1904. With more than 30 chapters on multiple continents, they strive for advancements in field research and environmental conservation. The Club is offering funds to explorers/researchers who also function as storytellers through their Impact Grant.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed multiple times a year. Awards are typically $10,000 – $25,000 and should be completed within one year. Membership in The Explorers Club is not required.

Eligibility

Applicant

Impact Grants are open to any individual, 18 years or older from anywhere around the world. Applicants may be associated with a research or educational institution, but grants will not be awarded to institutions.

Research

Research in the following scientific disciplines will be considered:

  • Anthropology
  • Archaeology
  • Astronomy
  • Biological Sciences
  • Earth Sciences
  • Ecology
  • Paleontology

Projects may include a laboratory component, but a fieldwork expedition must be the primary focus. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least six months before the start of their field research.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria.

  • Alignment with The Explorers Club’s mission to increase scientific understanding
  • Credentials of the team leader and members
  • Scientific merit of the proposed project
  • Use of innovative methods
  • Possible impact
  • Potential for use to educate the public through storytelling

Publication and Media

Grant recipients are encouraged to publish the results of their expedition in relevant academic journals. The Explorers Club would like to be informed as soon as possible about upcoming publications.

Prior to their expedition, grantees will attend a planning session with the Explorers Club to discuss potential media and other logistics. Grantees must also provide a stipulated number of photos and videos along with their regular reports for use on social media and other promotion efforts.

Campus Pride Social Justice Mini-Grants for Activism

Campus Pride Social Justice Mini-Grants for Activism supports on-campus activities in the U.S. to help foster acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community. Projects must be youth-led, youth-driven, and youth-implemented.

Applications for up to $600 are due by October 15, 2024. In past years, 13-20 grants have been awarded. Projects must be completed within 6 months.

Eligibility

This grant is open to:

  • Individuals
  • Student organizations
  • Campuses

Priority Consideration

Priority consideration will be given to projects that:

  • Focus on 18-26 year olds
  • Advocate for LGBTQ awareness, programming, and initiatives that address the intersections of ethnicity, race, class, ability, faith/spirituality, etc.
  • Empower the voices of queer, trans, and nonbinary students, particularly youth of color
  • Stand in solidarity with queer and trans undocumented students and advocate for increased accessibility of higher education
  • Recognize the value and necessity of minority serving institutions (including Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Asian American Serving Institutions) and support student organizing on these campuses

Submission Video

Rural Technology Fund Assistive Technology Grants

Assistive Technology Grants from the Rural Technology Fund support the purchase of technology to make U.S. schools more accessible to students with disabilities.

Applications are accepted on a continual basis and reviewed every 30-60 days. The average grant is $500 – $2,500, but larger requests will be considered for projects that will impact a greater number of students.

Eligibility

This grant is open to public schools and 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in the U.S.

Grants are typically given to schools in rural or high-poverty areas.

Allowable Expenses

Grant funds may be used for computer and tablets that feature:

  • Text to speech
  • Speech to text
  • Word processing
  • Magnification
  • Audio books
  • Other accessibility tools

Funds may also be used for:

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices
  • Adaptive keyboards and mouses
  • Software and applications

Ignacio H. de Larramendi Research Grants

Ignacio H. de Larramendi Research Grants support international researchers whose work focuses on Health Promotion or Insurance and Social Protection.

Applications are due by October 7, 2024 at 11:59 PM CEST.

Eligibility

This grant is open to individual researchers or research teams, but only one Primary Investigator may be named.

Applicants may work independently or in a hospital, university, research center, or company.

Focus Areas

Health Promotion

Health Promotion grants are available for up to €30,000 and must investigate one of the following:

  • Strategies to change habits for obesity prevention and emotional well-being; may include the appropriate use of new technologies
  • Emergency response training for the general public
  • Asssessing the impacts of an event (traumatic or accidental, medical negligence, aggression or disease) on the health of the individual and their ability to perform everyday activities, as well as effects to personal development
  • Clinical quality and safety
  • Longevity and the impact lifestyle has on it

Insurance and Social Protection

Insurance and Social Protection grants are available for up to €15,000 and must investigate one of the following:

  • Insurance.
  • Risk management.
  • New technologies in the insurance field.
  • Social protection through pensions, savings, investments, asset liquidation, and longevity economics

  • Innovation
  • Scientific and technical quality

North American Wetlands Conservation Act Small Grants Program

The North American Wetlands Conservation Act Small Grants Program supports on-the-ground projects that further the the goals of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act.

Applications for $1,000 to $250,000 with a required 1:1 match in nonfederal funds are due by October 10, 2024 at 11:59 PM ET.

Eligibility

This grant is open to:

  • State, county, and municipal governments
  • Special district governments
  • Federally recognized Native American tribal governments
  • Public and private institutions of higher education
  • Independent school districts
  • 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations
  • Native American tribal organizations
  • Small businesses

Program Goals

The goal of the Small Grant Program is to promote partnerships between public agencies and organizations to work towards:

  • The long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated habitats to benefit wetlands-associated migratory birds
  • Maintaining and improving the current distributions of wetlands-associated migratory birds
  • Maintaining an abundance of waterfowl (ducks, geese, and swans) and other wetlands-associated migratory birds consistent with North American Waterfowl Management Plan.

Impact Fund Recoverable Legal Grants

Impact Fund Recoverable Grants assist with out-of-pocket litigation expenses for legal cases with the potential to have a significant impact on social, economic, or environmental justice.

Letters of Inquiry for $10,000 – $50,000 are due by October 8, 2024. If invited to submit, full applications will be due by November 5. Cases that end with a fee or cost recovery will be requried to repay their grant with 7% interest.

Case

Grants are typically given to class action suits, but cases that will potentially have a significant impact or lead to meaningful law reform may also apply.

Funds may not be used for overhead, staff salaries, or attorney’s fees.

Gravely & Paige Grants for STEM Teachers

The Gravely & Paige Grants for STEM Teachers are offered through AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association). Awards of up to $2,000 are available to STEM teachers in the United States.

Applications are due by October 1, 2024. They have reached the limit for elementary school awards, but grants for middle school are still open.

Eligibility

This grant is open to teachers in the United States who:

  • Are U.S. citizens
  • Teach at an elementary, intermediary, or secondary school
  • Teach a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) subject
  • Teach at a public or private school

Priority consideration will be given to teachers at schools with economically disadvantaged students.

Letter of Recommendation

All applicants must have their principal submit a letter of recommendation to edfoundation@afcea.org in PDF form. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that this letter is sent in a timely manner.

Letters should contain information about:

  • The applicant’s teaching performance
  • The applicant’s accomplishments
  • How the grant will impact the applicant’s classroom and/or afterschool program
  • Any other information relevant to support for the application

A Child Waits Foundation Adoption Grants

A Child Waits Foundation helps with final adoption fees through their Domestic and International Grants.

Applications are accepted on a continual basis for awards of $1,000 – $7,500.

Eligibility

This grant is open to citizens of the United States and Canada who are adopting either domestically or internationally. Applicants’ gross household income must be under $150,000 a year and they must have completed a home study.

Statements of faith and letters of recommendation are not required.

Domestic Grants

Applicants may request assistance with:

  • Private adoptions
  • Sibling groups or reunification of siblings
  • Foster children, if expenses are not paid by the state
  • Children from an adoption disruption/dissolution
  • Adoptions through a placing agency, attorney, or matching service

If all agency and program fees have been paid, grant funds may be used for travel costs to bring the child home.

International Grants

International grant funds are intended for final costs, after the adoptive family has been approved to bring their child home. Because timelines and travel requirements vary, the Foundation works with the family to determine the best time to present their request to the Board for a decision.

The review process can be expedited if the travel date has been set for sooner than expected or if a medically expedient adoption has been approved.
